I got the final counseling in LA. I've finished 97 lessons and 23 counseling in this 2 years.
I got 760 points at my 3rd TOEIC. I've just got into Rank B, so my next target must be 800 points.
Today was a public holiday. But my company decided today was a working day, so I went to my office.
Always I take an early train for commuting because it is vacant and comfortable. Today I took a later one because I thought it must have empty. But there were a lot of passengers in it.
I've heard that watching movies with and without subtitles in English is a good way for increasing my listening skills. DVD has Japanese and English subtitles in it, so I tried it by DVD. But I only have "2001 space odessey", which has beatiful scenes in space, but does'nt have a lot of English conversation, though. I'll try another movie to study Engish.
I took TOEIC that was the 3rd time for me. I did a mock exam on the day before it, so I got used to taking some part of TOEIC. I hope a good score on it.
I made a business trip to Himeji. On my way home from Himeji, I visited my parents' house, where I met a student from Maleysia. She came to Japan for a homestay by a program of the Lions Club. She spoke English very well, so we enjoyed English conversation a lot. Also we went to Nihon-daira stadium to watch a soccer game of S-pulse. She took a lot of pictures of Ahn John-Huan.
I went to Minato-mirai after a long time. I went to a strange shop in World porter. There are a lot of maniac things I like, but I didn't buy anything at that store. I wanted to buy a skillet at a outdoor shop, but it was too heavy to bring, so I didn't buy it, either. Finally, I went to a bookshop. And I bought a book which was looked for. That was only thing I bought today.
We've had a big meeting and a conference in last 2 weeks. I was making some presentation material for those meetings. And furthermore, I had a monthly report meeting before those meetings. I also made some presentation in it.
The last time I wrote this diary was about a month ago. I've been very busy in my home and office since that time. But I've continued studying the textbook in the train and visited to LA 4 times a month. I got some gramatical knowledge by those study, I guess.
I got up very early in the morning because it was too hot to sleep. The time was 5:00 am, and I remembered the on-time broadcast of the premium league match, FULHAM vs TOTTENUM. I only watched the 2nd half. In the begining of it, the score was FUL 0-2 TOT. But FULHAM was really good in the 2nd half. First, Inamoto got his first goal in the premium league. It was an excellent goal. And FULHAM got PK, then the score became tie, 2-2. Surprisingly, FULHAM got the 3rd goal in the injury time. FULHAM won it dramatically, so I'm excited.
I spent almost all day in a window-less laboratory. When regular working time was ended, the heavy rain suddenly struck our factory. I got wet to the skin during the commute walking.
A large scale test in our factory was held. I watched it inside a clean room. It was the first time although I've been in the job for 5 years. It was pretty interesting.
After work, I went to LA in order to take a counseling and a lesson. The counseler was AL, and the topic I chose was "Diary". I speak with him about this diary, the last TOEIC, and reading books in English. I read Harry Potter vol.4 in English. He recommend me to read more fiction stories because they include a lot of conversation and a variety of vocabularies. I must expand my vocabulary because my score in reading part of the last TOEIC was almost equal to that of 10 years ago. He gave me good comments for the counseling.
The lesson was Glenn's and the topic was "Super-natural". He showed us some interesting pitures about Mystery-circle. Then We discussed Ghost, kanasibari, Kokkuri-san and so on. I played a role of an obstinacy scientist like profesor Otsuki. Actually, I want to believe those things, but it seems that there are no evidence, I guess.
I've been to Sendai at the first time for visiting to a Proffesor at Tohoku University. We've discussed some techinical probrems with him almost all in the afternoon. After that, we had Gyu-tan (beef tongue), which is famous food in Sendai. It was pretty hot day although Sendai was in the northern area of Japan.
I attended a weekly meeting with the factory members in spite of my boss.
I wasn't in the mood for working again because I didn't work for last 4 days. I couldn't write even the diary. We prepared for the visiting to the laboratory in Tohoku University.
The worker's union of our company held the annual conference. I participated in it as a representative of our workplace. The guests delivered congratulatory addresses. They speaked very well so I was interested in it.
Today was the day of the weekly meeting. My boss has been taking his 20 years anniversary vacation, therefore the meeting was ended in a hour. I've set the schedule of the automatic running of the antiwirus software of my computer for the time of the weekly meeting. But today's meeting was too short, therefore it was running when the meeting was ended. Of course I couldn't use my computer while the antiwirus software was running. Then I went to the library. I found an interesting paper accidentally.
Then I wrote the instructions to the factory in 30 minutes. After lunch, the meeting for the monthly report was held. I made a good presentation about photoluminescence although I felt a little stress during the presentation. But reaction for that was few as expected.
Today was the first day after the short vacation.
I had a schedule of an experiment which was operated in the large scale, but it was canceled. So, I felt easy and washed-out because it was a little stress for me.
And I had a good news in the morning. I got the result of TOEIC I took in July. The score was 685. It was 200 points better than the last time. I got a numerical evidence of an improvement in my skill of English conversation.
Then, I summarized the topics in the vacation.
In the rest of the morning, I made presentation material for monthly report. I wrote article parts.
After lunch, weekly meeting of our group was held. Then, I went to the library and found some interesting articles about optical pick-up lenses and optical storages for next age.
After 15:00, I felt bad gradually. So I guessed I caught a cold. In fact, I didn't remember what I did in those time.
Probably I read some reports in the circulation box. They were written by my boss, so I've got the hottest piece of information.
And finally I've finished the presentation material and brushed up it.
In the morning, the weeky meeting of our group was held. I told about the results derived on the day before yesterday.
After lunch, our company's CEO lectured to the members of R&D center. It was pretty interesting. Then I went to the library and read some articles about nanotechnology.
As I came my office, I wrote a diary and an introduction of myself in English. Those were good for warming up my brain.
Then I wrote a weekly report in 30 minutes. Finally, I'm ready for making presentation material. I've made necessary 7 graphs in 3 hours.
Today wasn't hotter than the last few days.
I made luminescence measurements by a dispathed staff after a long interval. I spent 2 hours for selecting samlples. Then I began to make presentation material for a monthly report, but I couldn't do well. So I tidied some papers into files.
In the afternoon, I couldn't do well too. I sometimes go to the library while I'm not in the mood for working. I found an interesting paper about off-center STE, then I read it.
In the luminescence experiment, I 've got some interesting results, but they weren't in my expectations.
In 1991, I took my first TOEIC and scored about 460 points. The score of the reading part was about 300 points, but that of the hearing part was about 150 points.
In 1986 and 1996, I've been to the U.S. and I felt necessity of studying English.
Since 2000, I've been living in Shin-Yokohama. There were some English language schools, so I felt that convinient for studying English. I looked for an English language school on internet, and I selected Linguaphone Academy, which was nearby Yokohama St.
At first, I took a level check. In the level check, I could understand what the councelor said, but I couldn't speak a lot. So the counsyelor put me into level-intro.
After 4 lessons, I took my first counciling. At that time, I could speak better than the level check. The councilor said me to take a promotion counciling for Level 1. I took more 4 lessons in Level 0, then I tried the promotion counciling.
In the PC1, I talked about my family and my job.
I guess the point in the PC for Level 1 was the ability to speak a lot of English. I have to speak more than 500 words about a topic.
I took about 40 lessons and 10 counseling in level 1.
I'm a chemical engineer. I've been concerning development of a medical diagnosis system for 5 years. But I've been boring that recently. Nowadays I have few free time. One of the major spare time is in the commuting train.
In the commuting train, I prefer to read books. I like the subjects about science and soccer. Or I play a portable video game.
